An important welterweight fight between no.6 ranked welterweight Michael Chiesa and no.5 ranked Vicente Luque is added to the UFC 265 lineup in August. The event takes place on August 7, 2021. UFC 265 does not have an announced location or venue. The event will air on pay-per-view following prelims expected to air on ESPN and stream on ESPN+.

Michael Chiesa is undefeated in four fights since moving up to welterweight from the lightweight division in December 2018. He is the winner of “The Ultimate Fighter: Live”. Chiesa officially made his UFC debut at The Ultimate Fighter 15 Finale on June 1, 2012, against fellow Team Faber teammate Al Iaquinta. Chiesa defeated Iaquinta by technical submission due to a rear-naked choke in the very first round of the fight becoming The Ultimate Fighter: Live’s inaugural winner. In his recent fight, Chiesa faced Neil Magny at UFC on ESPN 20. Chiesa won the fight via unanimous decision after dominating Magny on the ground. He has some notable wins over guys like Carlos Condit, Diego Sanchez, and Rafael Dos Anjos.
Vicente Luque is ranked no.5 in the UFC’s welterweight rankings. He was having an amazing run in the division before losing to Stephen Thompson. He bounced back from the loss with three back-to-back wins and in his last fight, he scored a brilliant first-round submission victory over former welterweight champion Tyron Woodley. The 29-year-old from Brazil has won nine of his past 10 fights, with eight finishes during that extent. His overall record is 20-7-1in MMA and 13-3 in the UFC.
