McGregor vs Poirier Trilogy is On- Vegas Baby!

The UFC has now officially announced the UFC 264 is on and will be held at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on July 10. It will be a “full capacity” event and tickets will go on sale later this week. Not surprisingly it is expected to sell out in minutes, as did UFC 261 and 262.

Despite McGregor’s Tweet that the fight is off, UFC president Dana White stated that the Trilogy between McGregor and Poirier will be the headliner at the event. it does seem that everything is back on track especially after Poirier put out a statement on Twitter apologizing to the McGregor camp.

“I am very passionate about my charity as you all know. I jumped the gun and took private matters between Conor (and) my foundation public. My mistake, we live, we learn. Spreading positivity (and) doing good is my goal! I feel like I have brought a negative energy and personal opinions into something I am working so hard on that gives people a reason to cheer and smile. I will take this in stride and continue to fight the Good Fight.”

You can almost guarantee a little pressure came down on Poirier from the powers above so they could get this fight on the card. There was too much money at stake not to make this match, and if we all know one thing it’s that money talks.

McGregor, as of yet, has not responded.

“The Notorious” will be looking to get back in the win column as his last win was over a year ago against Donald Cerrone at UFC 246. He made short work of “Cowboy” with a TKO 40 seconds into the first round. Of course, we all know what happened in the next fight versus Poirier.

Poirier has won six out of his previous seven bouts. The one loss was in his first title defence against Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 242. “The Diamond” will be out to prove that the win over McGregor was no fluke and that his number one ranking in the light heavyweight is deserved.

With the fight now being confirmed the odds have been updated and, a little surprisingly, it is closer now. Some have it as a dead heat at -110 while others have Mcgregor only as high as -126 and Poirier is, at worst, a +105 bet.

If you are looking to make some money off this fight you may want to look into betting the over/under or the handicap. Or use an open parlay to see if the odds get better closer to the fight.

Charles Oliveira and Michael Chandler will be facing off in Houston in UFC 262 for the vacant light heavyweight championship. And the winner of that one will more than likely face the winner of this one for the belt.

No matter who wins or loses, with the score 1-1 and both fighters having something to prove this should be a fight for the ages.
