At UFC 264, Sean O’Malley who was scheduled to fight Louis Smolka at this card will now fight Debutant Kris Moutinho. MMA reporter Ariel Helwani was the first person to report this news. He tweeted the news of Loius Smolka’s departure from the card and the entire bantamweight division of the UFC was ready to take his spot.

“Louis Smolka is out of next weekend’s UFC 264 fight versus Sean O’Malley, sources say. Undisclosed injury. They were scheduled to be on the PPV main card. UFC is hoping to keep O’Malley on the card, I’m told, but no new opponent locked in yet.” Ariel Helwani Tweeted.

After hearing this news many fighters from the bantamweight division put their name out in the mix and wanted to take the vacant spot as the UFC 264 card is going to be a mega event. Fighters like Tim Elliott, Ricky Simon, Merab Dvalishvili, Cody Stamann, Ray Borg were ready to jump on board but seems like UFC had a completely different plan. Massachusetts’ Kris Moutinho will now meet Sean O’Malley at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Arizona MMA fighter Sean O'Malley quickly rising in UFC

Sean O’Malley wouldn’t have any sort of problem welcoming him in the UFC. ‘Sugar Show’ Sean O’Malley is the sensation of the bantamweight division. He is the future is of the division and he has shown his elite striking game time after time and proved his worth in the UFC.

Sean has just faced one loss in his UFC career against Marlon Vera as he lost the fight via stoppage. He also faced an injury in that fight. Sean bounced back to the win column recently after getting a comfortable win against a certified bantamweight contender Thomas Almeida. He scored some amazing knockdowns in that fight before getting the finish in the third round. This fight doesn’t look that competitive on the paper but a debutant will try to make the best out of this opportunity and getting a dominant win over O’Malley will put Kris right into the mix of the stacked Bantamweight division.
