After Jones was arrested, the UFC president was asked about the whole situation. Dana White stated that he was not at all surprised by what happened. He said that it’s never safe to bring Jon Jones to Las Vegas.

“It’s hard to bring this guy to Las Vegas for any reason,” White told reporters on Friday after the UFC 266 ceremonial weigh-ins. “This city is not good for Jon Jones. And here we are again.”
“It’s like it’s not even shocking anymore,” White said. “When we bring him here, it’s almost expected. Can’t even get him into Las Vegas for less than 12 hours to induct him into the Hall of Fame. It’s a problem. This guy’s got a lot of demons, man – a lot of demons.”

“Is it really shocking anymore? It’s really not. It’s become not shocking. Almost become, ‘Uh oh, he’s in Vegas again. What’s going to happen today?’ You want to hope the guy is better, and that won’t be the case, but he proves every time he comes to this town that he can’t handle this place.”

Jon Jones Illegal Controversies

This wasn’t the first time Jon to get into trouble due to his illegal activities. In April 2015, Albuquerque, New Mexico police stated that he was sought in connection with a hit and run early the previous morning. He was alleged to have run a red light and crashed his rental car in a collision involving two other vehicles. He allegedly fled the scene of the crash on foot and leaving an injured pregnant woman behind in another vehicle. The incident was witnessed by an off-duty police officer who identified the suspect as an African-American man, wearing a white shirt and dark pants, whom he believed to be Jones. The witnesses stated that the man described as Jones then returned to the scene to grab cash from the vehicle before fleeing again.

An arrest warrant was issued against Jones, and a surrender process was done between law enforcement and Jones’s lawyers. That evening, Jon turned himself in to the Albuquerque Police Department.
