UFC Legend Georges St-Pierre shared his story of how he got into MMA. He talked about his childhood life and the challenges he faced in those days. GSP was bullied in the school that led to him joining MMA. Mix Martial Arts training got him confidence, which changed his life. He expressed his feeling towards the Mix Martial Arts and how he saw the changes having in him throughout his life. GSP didn’t have a lot of self-confidence in his early days but he talked about it and said that his spirit started increasing once he started training regularly.

“Growing up, I was a kid that lacked a lot of confidence. I believe that’s why they picked on me,” St-Pierre revealed at Burt Watson in the latest “Legend 2 Legend” episode. “Like in nature, predatory animals always hunt the weakest in the group. I was one of those (kids). Didn’t have good self-confidence, and the way I used to carry myself is much different than the way it is now. I used to walk, look down, shrug my shoulders. It showed in my demeanor, and that’s the main reason they were picking on me”

St-Pierre said he was 7 when he started karate training. After a few years, he noticed a change in his demeanor.

“Martial arts, of course, taught self-defense, but it also gave confidence, that confidence is a choice,” St-Pierre said. “I changed the way I was carrying myself. When I shook someone’s hand, I was looking at him in the eyes. When I talked to someone, I looked at him in the eyes. I didn’t shrug my shoulders and look down anymore. I was walking straight with some kind of confidence.”

Georges St-Pierre Opens About His Retirement

“I had a lot of issues with the UFC because of performance-enhancing drugs,” St-Pierre told Burt Watson in the latest “Legend 2 Legend” episode. “We were talking behind closed doors, and I know they know that a lot of their athletes were using performance-enhancing drugs. But I’m not stupid. I know how business works. They didn’t want to test them because they know a lot of their champions would fall. I think I carried too much pressure for too long. Being champion for a long time, and it’s hard to become champion, but it’s even harder to stay champion because you have a lot of pressure on yourself.”

“I think I just needed vacation, and it was some kind of depression at the time,” St-Pierre said. And was ashamed to admit it because I had a dream life, that have a lot of money, I’m healthy, and I was ashamed to admit that I was going towards depression because I didn’t know how people would think about me. They would be like, ‘Oh, what does he have to complain for? He’s champion of the world, he’s rich, what the hell is he complaining for?’ So I was ashamed, but I was going through mental depression and on top of that I was fighting in the UFC against performance-enhancing drugs, and I had a lot of personal issues. I just needed a break.”
