Chad Mendes Comes Back From Retirement

Former UFC featherweight title challenger Chad Mendes has decided to come back from his retirement. He has signed a multi-fight deal with Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship. Chad Mendes was one of the top contenders in his featherweight division.
After returning from his suspension and two-and-a-half years away from the sport, Mendes faced Myles Jury on July 14, 2018, at UFC Fight Night 133. He won the fight via TKO in the first round. This win also earned him the Performance of the Night award.

Chad then faced Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 232. He lost the fight via TKO in the second round. Following the loss, Mendes announced his retirement from the sport. As he felt he wasn’t having that much fun in the MMA and was facing a slight downfall in his career, Chad took the decision to call it off.
Then recently he announced that he will be making a huge announcement on the JRE podcast. While talking to Joe Rogan on his podcast, Chad announced that he is back from his retirement and will be competing. But he will not be in the UFC or even competing in the MMA world. Chad revealed that he will be competing for BKFC and will be a part of their roster.

“I just signed a big contract – I’m coming back to fighting,” Mendes told Rogan. “But I’m not coming back to MMA. … I’m coming back to boxing. I want to try something different. I think we’re going to throw some bareknuckle in there, bro – just mix it up and get real crazy. This is something that’s kind of been in the works for probably a year now.”

Chad Mendes in his UFC career has fought for the featherweight championship thrice but failed to capture it every time.
Mendes fought for the UFC Featherweight Championship against the champ Jose Aldo at UFC 142, he lost the fight in the very first round via KO. This was Mendes’s first professional loss. He then went on a long road to fight for the title again. He faced a lot of contenders and won consecutive fights to second a second crack at the title.

In his second title shot, he again faced Jose Aldo who was enjoying an amazing run at the featherweight division as the champion. A rematch with JoseAldo was expected to take place in August 2014 as the event headliner at UFC 176 for the UFC Featherweight Championship. But, in early July, Aldo pulled out of the bout with an injury.

The rematch with Aldo was afterward rescheduled and took place at UFC 179. Mendes became the first man to knock down Aldo by dropping him with a left hook in the first round. The fight was a back-and-forth battle. Jose Aldo was announced the winner and he won the fight by a close decision.

In his third title opportunity, Mendes stepped to replace injured Jose Aldo and fought Conor Mcgregor for the interim Featherweight title. He dominated Mcgregor in the first round but went on to lose the fight via TKO in the last few seconds of the second round.
Now, Chad Mendes, is all set to start a new venture in his amazing fighting career and the Entire MMA community will be supporting him during his reign in BKFC.
