In December 2013, VanZant was announced as one of 11 women signed by the UFC for its newly created Strawweight division.

8 KAROLINA KOWALKIEWICZ

Karolina is a Polish mixed martial artist. She currently fights for the Ultimate Fighting Championship. She is the former KSW Women’s Flyweight Champion. In late October 2015, it was announced that Kowalkiewicz had signed with the UFC. She faced Randa Markos at UFC on FOX 17. She was successful in her debut, winning the fight by unanimous decision.

7 MICHELLE WATERSON

Michelle Waterson is an American mixed martial artist and model who competes in the UFC. She is the former Invicta FC Atomweight Champion. Between 2013 and 2014, she was ranked the No. 1 women’s atomweight fighter in the world. On April 28, 2015, it was reported that Waterson had officially signed with the UFC and was expected to compete in the Women’s Strawweight division. Waterson made her promotional debut against Angela Magaña on July 12, 2015, at The Ultimate Fighter 21 Finale. She won the fight via submission in the third round.

6 TECIA TORRES 

Tecia is an American mixed martial artist who is currently competing in the strawweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). As of December 20, 2021, she is no.7 in the UFC women’s strawweight rankings. Torres made her UFC debut against fellow Ultimate Fighter competitor Angela at The Ultimate Fighter: A Champion Will Be Crowned Finale on December 12, 2014. She won the fight via dominant unanimous decision, out-striking Magaña two-to-one throughout three rounds.

5 CLAUDIA GADELHA

Claudia is a retired Brazilian mixed martial artist who competed in the Women’s Strawweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Gadelha was signed by the UFC along with ten other strawweight fighters to compete on season 20 of The Ultimate Fighter. In the UFC’s first female strawweight fight, Gadelha faced Tina on July 16, 2014, at UFC Fight Night: Cerrone vs. Miller. Gadelha won the fight via unanimous decision.

4 CARLA ESPARZA

Esparza is an American professional mixed martial artist who competes in the Strawweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Largely known for her grappling abilities, Esparza was the first UFC Strawweight Champion. The first Invicta FC Strawweight Champion, and was generally considered the best strawweight fighter in the world while holding each title.

3 ZHANG WEILI

 Zhang is a Chinese mixed martial artist. She is the former Kunlun Fight (KLF) strawweight champion and competes in the strawweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, where she is a former Women’s Strawweight Champion. She is the first-ever Chinese and East Asian champion in UFC history. Zhang faced Andrade for the UFC Women’s Strawweight Championship on August 31, 2019, at UFC on ESPN+ 15. She won the fight via first-round technical knockout to become the new Strawweight champion

2 ROSE NAMAJUNAS

Rose is an American professional mixed martial artist. She is signed to the Ultimate Fighting Championship, where she competes in the women’s strawweight division and is the two-time and current UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion. As of today, she is ranked NO. 2 in the UFC women’s pound for pound rankings. Namajunas faced Strawweight champion, Joanna, at UFC 217 at Madison Square Garden in New York on November 4, 2017. She came in as a big underdog against the undefeated champion. Namajunas, in what was regarded as a huge upset, won by KO in the first round to be crowned the new Women’s Strawweight Champion

Joanna is a Polish professional mixed martial artist and former Muay Thai kickboxer. She currently competes in the women’s Flyweight and women’s Strawweight divisions for the Ultimate Fighting Championship. She is a former Women’s Strawweight Champion. Joanna faced Carla Esparza for the Strawweight Championship on March 14, 2015, at UFC 185. She won the one-sided bout via TKO in the second round, becoming the first UFC title-holder from Poland and first female European UFC champion.
