Amanda Nunes

Amanda Nunes was moving back down to 135 pounds after back-to-back title defenses at featherweight. She most recently defeated Megan Anderson at UFC 259 in March. Now she was about to fight Julianna Pena who called her out after her last win. Nunes has fought both at Bantamweight and Featherweight several times getting wins over some of the best female fighters ever. She is now riding an amazing 12 fight win streak that includes wins over former UFC champions Cris Cyborg, Valentina Shevchenko, Holly Holm, Ronda Rousey, Miesha Tate, and Germaine de Randamie.

Widely regarded as the greatest women’s mixed martial artist of all time, Nunes has won 12 fights in a row overall, including nine straight wins in title fights. She holds victories over every single person to ever touch gold at bantamweight or featherweight in UFC history.

Julianna Pena

Pena is coming off a submission win earlier this year against veteran Sara McMann. Before that, back in October, Pena had suffered a loss to Germaine de Randamie. Overall, Pena has gone 2-2 in her past four fights with an additional win over former UFC flyweight champion Nicco Montano. Her losses came in bouts against Germaine de Randamie and reigning 125-pound queen Valentina Shevchenko.

Now UFC will be looking to set up this fight as soon as possible but that won’t come sooner as it will take time for Amanda Nunes to recover. UFC fighters like Cody Garbrandt and Khazat Chimaev needed around 6 months to get back to their normal lifestyle after testing positive for Covid-19. The entire MMA community wishes that Amanda Nunes and her family get well soon and the combat sports will soon get to see the greatest women fighter of all time fight inside the octagon.
